Kindle is now on Wilbor!
Kindle ebooks are now available for download on WILBOR
For all you Kindle owners who have been patiently waiting, rejoice! Kindle ebooks are now available on WILBOR.
Lake City Public Library has been a participant in the WILBOR project for over three years now. WILBOR is managed by Central Iowa Library Service Area, Southwest Library Service Area, Southeast Library Service Area, and Northwest Iowa Library Services. It is a consortium of Iowa libraries that have pooled resources to offer patrons a large collection of fiction, nonfiction, children’s and teens’ audiobooks and ebooks that can be downloaded to play on a PC, audio player, ebook reader and mobile devices.
Last year, ebooks were added to the WILBOR library, but they could not be read on Amazon's Kindle readers which do not support the EPUB format. Earlier this year, negotiations between Amazon and Overdrive (WILBOR's supplier of ebooks) began. An agreement was reached and last week Overdrive announced that has begun offering Kindle compatible ebooks to its selections. To read more, click here.
