AUTHORS OF #1 NATIONAL BEST SELLING BOOK TO APPEAR AT THE LAKE CITY LIBRARY

On Saturday, June 3rd at 2:00 P.M., authors Phil and Sandy Hamman from Sioux City, Iowa will be at the Lake City Library. They will give a PowerPoint presentation about the inside story of the book Gitchie Girl and the events surrounding the Gitchie Manitou mass murders. The presentation portrays the survivor’s story of Cheskey’s many struggles to rebuild her life emotionally and spiritually following a sexual assault that night. A question and answer session as well as a book signing will follow the event. Gitchie Girl rose to a #1 national best seller on several of Barnes & Noble’s and Amazon’s true crime lists. Books will be available on site for purchase. This Event is Free and Open to the Public.
* Phil Hamman has been a teacher and coach for over 30 years, teaching teenagers with behavior disorders. He also co-teaches high school English.
*He is the co-author of the #1 National Best Seller Gitchie Girl which is the lone survivor’s inside story of the 1973 Gitchie Manitou mass murders that occurred in northwest Iowa. Phil’s former best friend and three other teenagers he knew were murdered that night. He is also the author of Under the Influence and disOrder .
*Phil is a graduate of USF in Sioux Falls, SD. He did graduate work at Augustana University in Sioux Falls.
*Phil speaks extensively addressing the topics of domestic violence, bullying, and victim’s rights.
*Sandy Hamman has been a teacher for over 20 years and specializes in teaching reading and writing.
*She co-authored Gitchie Girl with her husband Phil.
*Sandy is a graduate of Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD. She completed her graduate work at Morningside College in Sioux City, IA.
